ReCoat Revolution

For Pet Owners

Dogs, cats, and the floors they left behind.

Surface scratches and faded finish we fix in a day. Black urine rings we'll tell you the truth about – and then fix with a proper sand and restain.

Why you're here

Your regular refinisher said no. Here's why.

“Most floor finishers won't sand urine-stained wood. The ammonia is activated by the sanding and the odor is breathtaking.”

– Floor-pro forum consensus (DoItYourself.com)

Most shops won't touch pet-damaged wood. We will – and we're honest about which marks are ReCoat candidates and which need repair before we quote.

Honest Diagnosis

Three questions to tell you what will actually work.

If yes…

Is the stain black and does it go through the finish into the wood?

Then the estimate needs a closer repair plan. The ammonia may have oxidized the wood's tannins, which can require sanding, bleach treatment, and restain.

Light claw scratches, dullness, or scuffs – but no bare wood showing?

A ReCoat is perfect. One day, no dust, walk on it by dinner. About one-third the cost of a full refinish.

What ReCoat can fix, and what may need repair first.

ReCoat fixes:

  • ✓ Light claw scratches in the finish
  • ✓ Dull, hazy, or cloudy topcoat
  • ✓ Traffic paths that have lost sheen
  • ✓ Minor scuffs from nails or furniture
  • ✓ Faded finish from sunlight

May need repair or sanding first:

  • ✗ Black urine rings that penetrated the wood
  • ✗ Worn-through finish that needs a repair plan
  • ✗ Gouges deeper than the finish
  • ✗ Cupping, crowning, or water damage
  • ✗ Wax finishes (different chemistry, requires full strip)

We can still fix many floors that are worn through with oxalic acid, wood bleach, repair work, and the Clean ReCoat Process. We would rather explain the right path honestly than promise the wrong service.
